Medium membership is beneficial for writers but its frustrating experience for the blog readers. Readers suffer a lot due to this:

1) I cannot read 90% of the blogs that Medium suggests to me via email notifications. Why send a notification when a user can’t even read it?

2) There are very few good blogs that are available for readers without membership.

I think it is really essential to strike out a balance where both the writers as well as readers are benefitted. It might be really helpful to stop sending notifications of member blogs and try to make some quality blogs available for free. That way it will be helpful for people who readers as well.
